New iPhone 5 launched by Apple
The iPhone 5 was launched by Apple yesterday at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts in San Francisco along with the iPod Touch and iPod Nano. Most of the new features had been expected to be put in place by Apple, in abid to catch up with smartphones from other manufacturers. On the outside the big change comes in the way of a much needed screen size increase, now upto 4inch tall with the width staying the same as the iPhone 4S, good but still less than some mid-range smartphones; the screen resolution is 1136 x 640 pixels that achieves 326 ppi density. The iPhone 5 is 20 percent lighter and 18 percent thinner (7.6mm) being made from one piece aluminium for the back and sides, and glass front with sensors that makes touch more respectable and fluid. The bigger screen area allows for 5 rows of icons.
The camera is same as before at 8 megapixel and can take pictures upto 3264 x 2448 resolution. Apple have said that it will benefit from the faster processor, improved low-light performance and the new ability to capture panorama pictures. Inside the iPhone 5 has the new A6 processor, which Apple say is twice as fast as the iPhone 4S and memory doubled to 1GB RAM from 512MB. There is also a new nano – SIM card that is being used to save as much space as possible instead of the usual micro SIM. Apple have skipped on including NFC technology, saying that its very earlier for it and not much usefulness yet, and that their payment wallet can take care of things for now. In that time they will have had released another version of the iPhone before NFC really becomes mainstream and accepted widely. LTE / 4G has made it into the new iPhone 5 so will increase mobile internet speeds vastly. The new iOS 6 operating system has many of the other new features that users can look forward. This release has been a incremental update from Apple, where iPhone 4S users will not see a major difference, but more so for those with iPhone 4 or less.
