Google Nexus Q again sold out

26 July 2012

Google Nexus Q has been fairly quietly launched since the Google I/O conference in late June. This time it was back and gone within 2 days, and now from today there is a notfiy by email when it in stock again. Since June it has twice been sold out, the Nexus Q being only available here from Google’s Play Store.

The social media streaming device is for the US market priced at $299 and for the foreseeable future will only be for that region, competing with other similar devices such as Apple, Roku and Sonos. Even at that premium price it seems to be popular for it to sell out twice and being similar to Google’s other TV device.

The 4.6inch orb shaped device is developed, designed and manufacturerd in the US, featuring some high specs; dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, SG540 graphics core, 1GB RAM, 16GB memory,Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC . It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with slots for HDMI, Ethernet and Micro USB.

To control the Nexus Q a tablet or smartphone with Android 2.3.3 or higher is needed. Media is streamed from Google Play Music and Movies plus content from Youtube.
