ZTE launch Grand X smartphone

19 July 2012

The Chinese phone maker ZTE has launched their Grand X smartphone at the 24 Club in West London. This is a fairly mid to high end phone from the usual ZTE’s lower spec’ed phones. The Grand X specs are quite impressive…

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

  • 4.3 inch  capacitive touchscreen with qHD resolution of  960 x 540 pixels (256 ppi density)
  • 5 MB rear camera with HD video capture and front VGA
  • 1.5 GHz Dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC
  • 4GB storage
  • 512 MB Ram
  • Mobile Dolby Sound with HD Voice
  • 1650 mAh Li-Ion battery

Whats also is interesting is that ZTE have mostly left Android 4.0 untouched, ie a stock version of it, making running it as close to Google’s own branded phones like the Nexus. Other phone makers usually skin and add plenty of custom made apps, which some users think actually slows down the phone. The ZTE Grand X can be purchased for about £190 or on low priced monthly contracts. While many people may not have even heard of them, in recent times ZTE have brought out very decent phones and many analyst believe they will soon in a year or two be at the spec level and popularity of Samsung and Sony.  This latest phone is available mid August from Phones4U and Virgin Mobile.
